About philipniceguy

I thought it might be a good idea to include a page about me, my business etc:

I have always had a passion for animals of all kinds since as long as I can remember. I got my first reptile at the age of 12 it was a Leopard gecko. I got another few over the months that followed using my paper round money. I ended up breeding them and purchasing morphs before I knew it I had a large collection of leopard geckos and plenty of eggs incubating. I slowly used the money i got from the babies to buy other reptiles and began keeping bearded dragons, rankins dragons, collared lizards, uromastyx among others including some tarantulas. By the tender age of 14 years old I was breeding most of these in small numbers supplying my local shop among others. I did work experience in my local pet shop and was offered a job. I began working there with reptiles, studying a NVQ level 2 in animal care while breeding and supplying the pet shop I worked in. At 16 I was promoted to manager of the reptile department and managed all aspects of the role from stock ordering, training, maintenance, husbandry to selling them and given advice to customers. I decided to leave the pet shop at 18 years old for better prospects but maintained my now large collection of various reptiles. At the age of 19 I swapped a clutch of bearded dragons for a baby nile monitor and my passion for Monitors began to blossom into what it is today. I wasnt ready to take on such a highly strung lizard and was very under prepared however I searched/found some helpful advice from experienced keepers. This helped me maintain the nile monitor correctly and with in a matter of months it was a 6ft monster of pure muscle. I found myself slowly selling up all the other exotic reptiles and mammals I maintained over the years and slowly aimed to keep just monitor lizards (Varanus sp). Many years on with plenty of steep learning curves I now maintain a rather diverse collection of monitor lizards both large (my favourites) and small. I have successfully bred a number of them with my personally favourite being Varanus mertensi because they are just awesome monitors, not to large or too small healthy feeding response yet very calm to handle, bold as brass and rarely hide. The ultimate monitor being Varanus salvadorii in my eyes a truly amazing, intelligent, colourful monitor. I even have a tattoo of one.

I then decided I would take it one step further and open up a online pet shop business of my own "Philipniceguy exotics" specialising in monitor lizards (Varanus sp). This decision wasn't to betaken lightly but with all the experience I have gathered from keeping & breeding them over the years I felt knowledgeable enough that I could provide a five star service to experienced keepers & newbies alike with the sole purpose of spreading the amazing enjoyment working with monitor lizards can bring you. Supplying high quality monitor lizards for all types of keepers both new and old, supporting worldwide breeders of this fantastic genus that is Varanus sp. My goal long-term is to see plenty more people maintaining and successfully breeding monitor lizards of all kinds. The welfare of the animals is my number one priority in my own collection & business second to nothing this can only be achieved through good husbandry practices coupled with good information given to newbies and old school keepers alike. I try my up-most to provide above and beyond the basics in my care sheets section but please don't hesitate to ask questions "a well informed/knowledgeable buyer is success in the making both for him/her and the animal they want". Specializing in one genus means my passion is true and my ongoing knowledge can always improve for the better of the monitors. I am glad to say I have the support of many well known keepers/breeders around the world and I will continue to support these by providing TRUE CB stock bred at fair prices. I truly thank them for allowing me too offer you these amazing CAPTIVE BRED animals, after all breeding takes alot of space, time and skill something that just isn't possible for all passionate keepers of every species.
